CATALYST FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS

PURPOSE:To prevent the sintering of noble metallic components and to improve heat resistance of a catalyst by carrying the noble metallic catalytic components on zirconium oxide powder and also dispersing them in a coated alumina layer and forming the coated alumina layer on a catalytic carrier. CONSTITUTION:In the case of providing a coated alumina layer carried with the noble metallic catalytic components on a catalytic carrier, the noble metallic catalytic components are dispersed on zirconium oxide powder and also dispersed in the coated alumina layer while keeping zirconium oxide powder as intermediation. Thereby both the noble metallic catalytic components and zirconium oxide powder are prevented from being maldistributed mutually independently and exist in such a state that both are brought into contact with each other and therefore the effect for preventing sintering of the noble metallic catalytic components due to zirconium oxide is sufficiently exhibited and further heat resistance is improved.
