摘要 Amorphous modified glass is made by forming a host matrix on a cooling substrate, directing a stream including modifier to converge with the matrix, independently controlling stream flow and quench rates, and moving stream and substrate relatively while maintaining the substrate at cooling temp.. The method provides a quench rate of 10 power 4 to 10 power 8 deg.C/s to form a ribbon with controlled optical and electrical properties and electronic configuration number and type so that the orbital relationships between matrix and modifier are controlled. The substrate is a wheel rotated at 1,000- 5,000 rev/min. and the stream is ejected from a nozzle of 0.005-0.15 cm dia.
