Process and apparatus in the production of carriageway transitions (expansion joints) from rubber mats

Process in the production of carriageway transitions from a plurality of rubber mats, of which two or more end butt joints are vulcanised together, under the effect of heat and a pressing pressure, with the aid of sheeted-out compound strips respectively inserted between the said joints. In this process, a heating of between 100 and 200@C is generated directly in the entire vulcanisation cross-section, with uniform distribution. In this case, the heating may be generated by inductive resistance heating and/or the sheeted-out compound strip may be heated up to vulcanising temperature by conductors of a grid-like or meandering form through which current flows, or it may consist of an electrically conductive rubber material.
