PURPOSE:To detect the temperature of a printing head without being affected by the irregularity of a thermister and thereby allowing a reference temperature to be set to an optimum value by storing a value obtained through the thermister and an A/D converter at a specified temperature, in a non-volatile memory at the time of shipment. CONSTITUTION:At the time of shipment, a control section 1 stores a value D0, which is obtained from a thermister 6 through an A/D converter 5, and varies according to environmental. temperature prevailing then in a non-volatile memory 6 either by operation of keys by an operator or by identification of a control command from a host system. At that time, the operator sets the environmental temperature at T0. Next, during printing process, the control section 1 transmits information on the value which is obtained from the thermister 6 via the A/D converter 5 and becomes more than D0 to a printing control section 3, if such a value increase occurs. The printing control section 3 controls printing action so that adequate time is secured at intervals between printing actions after the transmission of the information. Subsequently, a printing head is prevented from being burnt. As a reference temperature T0 can be detected without being affected by the irregularity of the thermister 6, the reference temperature T0 is set to an optimum value. |
