Traversing arrangement

The traversing arrangement is driven by two belt strands (1) which are moved in opposite directions and has a carriage (5) which is movable parallel to the belt strands on a straight guide (6). The carriage has clamping mechanisms with grippers (12) which are actuated by stationary stops (23) and are held in the clamping position by a spring which passes their dead centre position. By self-locking design of the traversing arrangement, it is possible to keep the spring force low. To this end, the gripper consists of two eccentric discs (66) which are interconnected in a geared manner. On contact against the respective belt strand, a rotary movement with an increasing radius is imposed on the eccentric disc while the other eccentric disc carries out a rotary movement with a decreasing radius.
