A method of preparing a polymer bound stabilizer comprises reacting a stabilizer precursor molecule containing a reactive double bond which is not readily homopolymerizable with a preformed polymer in the presence of a free radical. The stabilizer precursor may be, for example, a hindered piperidine, a hindered phenol antioxidant or a hindered arylamine antioxidant and the polymer may be a polyolefin, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide or an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene polymer, for example.
