<p>In order to print well balanced underlines under a character string printed at an expanded print pitch, the disclosed printing apparatus comprises an expanded pitch setting means for setting an expanded pitch mode for providing an expanded space corresponding to a predetermined times of set print pitch between neighbouring characters, and an underline print control means for controlling to print one or more underline in the expanded space between a preceding printed character and a succeeding character to be printed, when the data of the succeeding character is entered in both of the underline mode and the expanded pitch mode.</p> |
