Bis (p-chlorphenoxy)-acetic acid esters

Bis-(p-chlorphenoxy)-acetic acid esters. New compounds, lowering the cholesterol and lipid level in blood, have the formula:- (in which R is allyl, propyl, isopropyl, straight C5-10 alkyl or a C5-7 cycloalkyl). They are produced by reacting a dihalogenoacetic acid or an ester thereof with an alkali metal p-chlorophenolate and, if necessary, reacting the product with an alcohol of the formula ROH.
