<p>(A) Cmpds. of general formula (I) Q = -CHR'CO2H and Q1 = H or Q = H and Q' = CHR'CO2H R1 = H or (1-3C) alkyl R2 = H or (1-4C) alkyl R3 = H or Cl (B) Salts of I. Anti-inflammatories, analgesic, and anti-pyretics. 5alpha-Dimethyl-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenz(b,f) azepine-3-acetonitrile (3.4g) in CHCl3 (170 ml.) and EtOH (17 ml.), was satd. with HCl at 0-5 deg., and stirred 14h. at 20-25 deg. The soln. was concd., stirred 5h. at 40 deg. with dioxan (35 ml.) and H2O (7 ml.), evapd. and refluxed 1 h. with 5N-NaOH (10 ml.) and EtOH (35 ml.). The EtOH was distilled off, the soln. acidified (2N - HCl). extd. with EtOH, and the EtOAc extd. with 2N-Na2CO3. The Na2CO3 extracts were combined, acidified(2N-HCl), filtered, and recryst. from cyclohexane, giving the 3-acetic acid (I), m.p. 138-140 deg.</p> |
