1,231,815. Planing water craft. DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 23 May, 1969 [25 May, 1968], No. 25132/68. Headings B7A and B7V. [Also in Division F2] A power driven high-speed planing water craft has a screw propeller 18 disposed towards the stern in a longitudinally extending channel 12 opening downwardly along the underside of the hull from the stern. A cross-wall 14 forward of the propeller partly closes the channel and forms an abrupt stop. Air enters the channel at 12c during planing operation of the craft. Exhaust fumes from the engine 16 are also led into the channel ahead of the propeller. Two parallel plastics rudder plates 42 are shown fixed to the side walls of the channel ahead of hinge formations 43. So that an integral moulding can be used the hinge formations have neck portions of reduced thickness towards the fron edge of the rudder plates, sufficient resiliency being inherent in the plastics material to allow the required angular movement. The rudder plates in effect provide an extension of the channel side walls. |
