PURPOSE:To decrease a change of torque and reduce vibration, by holding to close one of the intake and exhaust valves while open the other only in the vicinity of the bottom dead center in an idle cylinder when a multi-cylinder internal- combustion engine is operated in a reduced quantity of cylinders at low loaded time. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 17, to which a signal of a load sensor 16 interlocking to an accelerator pedal 15 is input, partially stops supply of an electric current to a spark plug in a cylinder at low loaded operation while selects the valve timing of intake and exhaust valves in an idle cylinder by an actuator 10 to hold to close the exhaust valve (or intake valve) and open the intake valve (or exhaust valve) only in the vicinity of the bottom dead center. In this way, a blown amount of compressed gas to a crank case side at a lifting stroke of a piston in the idle cylinder is supplied at valve opening time in the vicinity of the bottom dead center, and suitable compressive pressure is always ensured to reduce a change of torque. |
