PURPOSE:To uniformly supply reaction gas to make long-term, steady operation possible by alternately cutting off ribs in the downstream in the reaction gas flow direction of at least one of a fuel electrode and an oxidizing agent electrode to prevent the blockage of a reaction gas passage. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of ribs 6 are installed on one side of a porous electrode mainly comprising carbon fibers to form reaction gas passages, and ribs 6 in a rib-installed electrode 3 are alternately cut off from the downstream end in the reaction gas flow direction toward the upper stream so as to form cut-off parts. Since passages 4 are widened by cutting off the ribs 6, the blockage of passages 4 caused by the accumulation of impurities such as the reaction products of cell constituting materials in power generating reaction, and of the cell constituting material with phosphoric acid electrolyte, is prevented. Reaction gas is uniformly supplied to the reaction interface, and steady voltage is obtained for a long time. |
