<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc oxide type varistor excellent in discharge withstand current rating, by forming a first insulating layer on the side surface of a sintered body by using resin, and winding thereon a resin tape containing glass cloth to form a second insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:A sintered body 1 whose main component is zinc oxide has itself voltage-nonlinearity, on the side surface of which liquid epoxy resin and liquid silicon are spread. After the resin is hardened under a specified hardening condition, and a first insulating film is formed, teflon tape containing glass cloth and silicon rubber tape containing glass cloth having self-fusion-bonding property are wound to form a second insulating layer 4. By winding, on the upper part, the resin tape containing glass cloth, a zinc oxide type varistor excellent in discharge withstand current rating can be obtained. A preliminary baking process necessary to insulating layer forming process by reaction system which is generally used so far can be eliminated, so that the reduction of lead time and production cost is enabled.</p> |
