An eyeless needle has a body partially split longitudinally, joined at the joint and having a small beak (4) at the end of one strip (2) aligned with a small hole (3) in the other strip (3). The combination of (4) and (3) is used to pinch and grip the leading end of a tape or ribbon or coarse yarn (5) to be entrained by the needle through a workpiece to be embroidered.
