Bristle tufts are anchored on or in a block of closed cell thermoplastic material, without preformed sockets, by stapling the tufts directly therein. The ends of metal staples may be bent during or near the end of their insertion to increase their holding power. Dimples may be provided at points on block intended to receive a tuft. Nylon, polypropylene, polythene or polystyrene may be used for the bristles or, after foaming, for the block. Additionally, foamed polyurethane, polymethylmethacrylate, p.v.c. or acrylonitrilebutadiene-styrene polymers may be used for the block. |
