PURPOSE:To provide excellent color forming properties and enable prevention of color development fogging, by using a specified alkali-thickenable copolymeric latex as a binder. CONSTITUTION:An alkali-thickenable copolymeric latex obtained by copolymerizing 20-60wt.% of an aliphatic conjugated diene, 2-20wt.% of methacrylic acid and 20-78wt.% of an ethylenically unsaturated compound other than methacrylic acid is used as a binder, in a coating composition for a pressure-sensitive copying paper comprising microcapsules containing a color former therein and the binder. With the specified copolymeric latex used as the binder, it is possible to impart appropriate elasticity to a coated layer (color former layer). Therefore, it is possible to sufficiently absorb comparatively small pressing forces, frictional forces and the like exerted incidentally and to weaken forces exerted on the color former capsules, so that color development fogging can be prevented from occurring, while maintaining a color forming function at the time of use. |
