A mechanically strong, flux-loss-resistant, permanent magnet comprises epoxy resin-bonded alloy particles and is prepd. by (A) mixing paticles of rapidly quenched rare earth-iron-boron alloy with a small amt. of dry, free-flowing powder comprising uncured epoxy resin, which is polyglycidyl ether of polyphenol alkane having Tg of at least 150≦̸C, and an imidazole curing catalyst for the epoxy resin which is inactive at the mixing temp.; (B) pressing the mixt. into a compact having density at least 70% of alloy density; (C) heating the compact so that epoxy resin powder melts to fill voids between alloy particles and to activate catalyst to cure epoxy resin; (D) magnetising the compacted alloy paticles.
