PURPOSE:To obtain gamma-MnO2 contg. a specified amt. of Li, which provides an alkali-manganese cell having superior discharging performance by neutralizing MnO2 obtd. by an electrolytic or chemical synthetic process with LiOH, and heat-treating at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:MnO2 produced by an electrolytic or chemical synthetic process is neutralized with LiOH. Suitable amt. of the LiOH to be added is 10-25 pts. wt.per 100 pts.wt. of MnO2. By heating then the neutralized product at 100-120 deg.C, gamma-MnO2 contg. 0.15-0.3wt.% Li is obtd. Performance of an alkali-manganese cell which is used in an automatic winder, strobe, etc., of a camera, is improved remarkably if the obtd. gamma-MnO2 is used for an activating material for a positive electrode of the alkali-manganese cell. |
