PURPOSE:To improve the heat conductivity by drying a slurry contg. alumina powder, reducing powder, the hydride of an alkaline-earth metal or a rare-earth element, and a solvent, and heating the dried material in a nitrogen atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A slurry obtained by mixing alumina powder, reducing powder (e.g., carbon powder), the hydride (e.g., CaH2) of an alkaline-earth metal or a rare-earth element, and a solvent (e.g., ethanol) is dried under reduced pressure, and then the solvent is removed to obtain a mixture. The mixture is then placed in a tray made of a reducing material, then placed in a kiln, heated in a nitrogen atmosphere at 1500-1700 deg.C to reduce the alumina powder with the reducing powder, and allowed to react with N2 to form AlN powder. The AlN powder is then heated at 600-900 deg.C in the air to remove the remaining reducing powder. |
