PURPOSE:To manufacture a magnetic film having a stable magnetic head output, by forming substrate materials for a magnetic head by making use of MO2, MnO, and NiO, thereby improving machinability. CONSTITUTION:Substrate materials for a magnetic head consist of 5-20mol% MO2, 20-70mol% MnO, and 15-70mol% NiO, providing that M equals a tetravalent metal and is a kind of semimetal materials (Ti, Zr, Hf, Sn, Si, Ge, and Pb) at least. The substrate materials have crystal structures consisting of cubic system mixed crystals (such as Nal, spinels). The materials having each coefficient of thermal expansion: 100-125X10<-7>/ deg.C are used. Then, these materials improve machinability and make it possible to manufacture magnetic films by using a thin film manufacturing device. |
