A device is claimed to allow two different openings for a spot welding electrode clamp using a pneumatic jack system to facilitate the two openings of the arms of the clamp. The clamp is made up of an upper body, a lower body on which are fixed the junction pads supporting the arms fitted with interchangeable electrodes. At the back is fixed a control jack that is able to action the arms with two different openings. With the screw in a first groove the course taken is limited whilst with the screw in a second groove (B) the course taken is greater and the opening of the arms is maximised. The passage form one groove to the second is achieved by a 90deg. rotation of a knurled knob. USE/ADVANTAGE - The device allows the double opening of the arms of a spot welding clamp which is aprtic. applied in the automobile industry for coachbuilding. It allows a second greater opening to avoid any problems associated with obstacles of large dimensions interfering with the replacemnt of electrodes and allows greater precision in the positioning of the electrodes.
