The contact device uses a spring contact element (1) supported in a housing (2) between a push-button operating element (3) and a counter contact (6). The spring contact element (1) has a retaining arm (25) facing the operating element (3) and a relatively spaced contact arm (30) attached to a stationary contact pin (5) at one end and depressed into contact with the counter-contact pin (6) at the other end. The free end of the retaining arm (25) is curved over to grip the end of the contact arm (30), so that the contact press for the contact pin (6) is equal to the resetting force of the contact arm (30).
