A method is described for growing a single crystal by evaporation of a solvent from a droplet which is held without contact in a stationary sound field (sonic field). In order to initiate crystallisation of the single crystal, it is seeded with a foreign nucleus. This ensures that only one single crystal is grown from the droplet.
