PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine composition containing a pharmaceutically permissible carrier and inactivated viruses or bacteria obtained by inactivating viruses or bacteria with ascorbic acid (salt) in the presence of oxygen and a heavy metal ion source. CONSTITUTION: Living viruses or bacteria are treated with ascorbic acid and/or its salt in the presence of sufficiently aerated oxygen and a heavy metal ion source, preferably a copper salt, an iron salt, a zinc salt and a mercury- containing compound (especially cupric sulfate, ethyl mercury thiosalicylic acid sodium salt) at a temperature of 1-54 deg.C for 10-100hr to obtain the inactivated viruses or bacteria. The concentration of the heavy metal ion on the inactivation treatment is 0.01-0.1mM, preferably 0.015-0.05mM, and the concentration of the ascorbic acid is 1-10mM, preferably 2-6mM. The ascorbic acid is preferably twice added in the cases of parvoviruses and rotaviruses, and a saponin is preferably added in the case of herpes viruses. |
