The invention is based on an electro-optical transmission system with at least one transmitter part comprising an electronic functional module and a following electro-optical transducer, with at least one receiver part comprising an opto-electrical transducer and a following electronic functional module and with one optical waveguide which connects the two transducers. It is characterised in that the electrical terminals of the transducers are in each case connected on the transmitting and receiving ends by means of plug-in connectors to their assigned electronic functional modules and that the optical terminals of the transducers are in each case connected at the transmitting and receiving ends via splice connections to the optical waveguide.
