DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To ensure illumination in a space by detecting the lighting conditions of discharge lamps parallely lighted, and reducing the output of a high frequency power supply unit to an extent that other normal discharge lamps can continue their operation when any one of the discharge lamps is in malfunction. CONSTITUTION:Discharge lamps 2-4 are respectively detected on their operation by means of an output control unit 11, and when any one of them is in malfunction, namely in the case of half-wave discharge, the output of a high frequency power unit 1 is reduced in a range where other normal lamps 2-4 can continue their operation. The other lamps 2-4 are not put off and being lighted under dimming conditions accordingly. It is thus possible to ensure lighting in a space to be irradiated with light.
