Almost colourless, fluorescent benzimidazole cpds. of the general formula wherein A are residual groups of an aromatic ring system condensed with the heterocyclic ring; Ar and Ar' are aromatic radicals, and quaternized products of these in which an alkoyl, alkenyl, cycloalkoyl, or aralkoyl, possibly substituted group coordinates to N marked '1' with an anion. As whitening agents for wool, cellulose, polyamide, polyurethane, polyester, PVC., polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, etc, fibres and films. |
