An ice-cream maker (1) for domestic use with a pot (2), a cooling battery (3), a handle (7), an agitating mechanism (4) and a drive unit (6) for the agitating mechanism. The drive unit (6) projects from the edge of the ice-cream maker (1) into the centre of the latter. It is plugged vertically by means of a plug into the upper edge region of the ice-cream maker. It is held in the socket in a self-locking manner. On the upper edge of the cooling battery there is provided a collar (5) on which there is formed a socket (8) for the drive unit. The collar is mounted on the upper edge of the cooling battery and is fixedly connected to the latter by means of a clamping ring (9). The drive unit (6) can in each case be accommodated in the region of the upper edge of the cooling battery either on an extension of the handle or by designing the upper edge of the pot to take the form of a collar.
