Apparatus for the remote-controlled opening of pipe connections

If a tube is drawn into pipelines in order to seal them, all of the lateral pipe connections are also closed. The pipe connections must be opened again, but this is not readily possible in the case of pipelines which are narrow and therefore not accessible on foot. In the case of pipelines laid underground, the only solution hitherto has been to dig up the ground at the locations of the pipe connections. The novel apparatus is remote-controlled and comprises a camera and illuminating device mounted axially rotatably with respect to the housing of the apparatus and also a tool holder mounted pivotably on the illuminating device and having a tool for opening the pipe connections. The apparatus enables a remote-controlled opening of the pipe connections, so that digging up of the ground, which entails high costs, is no longer necessary. <IMAGE>
