Process for the production of biocompatible, water-soluble, inorganic glasses and their use

The process for the production of biocompatible, water-soluble, inorganic glasses based on phosphorus silicates comprises hydrolysing liquid precondensates of defined silicophosphates made from silicic acid ester halides with stochiometric amounts of phosphoric acid esters (phosphates) in the presence of acidic or basic catalysts under controlled conditions with respect to temperature, pressure and water vapour partial pressure, it being possible for the structure to be modified by addition of organometallic compounds. The glasses can be used as the matrix for pharmaceutical preparations with controlled release and ensure the filling and stabilisation of bone defects caused during surgery, in particular after tooth extraction.
