<p>PURPOSE: To protect a dog from the infection of canine coronavirus by using a vaccine based on swine transmissible gastroenteritis virus(TGEV). CONSTITUTION: Isolated TGE viruses are transferred into cells originating from a pig and/or a cat several times (e.g. twice to nine times), and the obtained attenuated living TGE viruses are cultured and proliferated in mammalian cells (preferably swine kidney cells, especially PK15 cells, cat kidney cells, especially Crandell cat kidney cells) in a proper culture medium. The produced virus liquid is used as a live vaccine as such or as an inactivated TGEV vaccine after treated with an inactivation agent such as an ascorbate salt in the presence of oxygen and/or a heavy metal ion.</p> |
