PURPOSE:To lessen a load on a circuit breaker in opening a circuit and make a switch compact and lightweight by using a superconductor for a auxiliary contact point opened in a delay after the opening of a main contact point or a conductive member connected in series to the auxiliary contact point. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary contact point 6 or a conductive member connected in series to the auxiliary contact point 6 is constituted with a superconductor. When a circuit is opened, a main contact point 4 is first opened, thereby flowing all load current to the circuit of the auxiliary contact point 6. Then, the current density of the superconductor in creases, and the superconducting state thereof is broken, turning into a high resistance body. Consequently, a current flow to the circuit of the auxiliary contact point 6 is reduced and it is possible to interrupt the load current with the delayed opening of the auxiliary contact point 6 thereafter. According to the aforesaid construction, a load for current interruption is lessened in opening the circuit and an arc extinction chamber becomes small, thereby enabling the compact and lightweight design of whole equipment. |
