PURPOSE:To obtain the above photosensitive material having excellent dimensional stability by drying a coated layer in such a manner as to satisfy specific conditions in a stage for coating and providing said layer and cooling the layer to gelate gelatin, thereby drying the layer. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive material is formed by coating and providing a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer contg. photosensitive silver halide of 0.05-0.3mu average grain size and gelatin on one side of a base and coating and providing at least one layer of the nonphotosensitive layers contg. the gelatin on the other side of the base. The coated layer is brought into contact with 35-80 deg.C air for >=5sec and <=1min within 5min from the point of the time when the average surface temp. of the coated layer rises up to the temp. lower by 1 deg.C than the average temp. of the environmental air in the stage for coating and providing the coated layer of at least either one face and cooling the layer to gelate the gelatin, thereby drying the layer. The photosensitive material having the excellent dimensional stability before and after processing with, for example, an automatic developing machine is obtd. even if said material is processed and dried by said machine. |
