Elastic, self-supporting, meltable composition for use in electrical insulation tapes consists of the following components: (a) 100 pts. of an elastomer mixture containing at least 15 pts. ethylene-propylene copolymer, the remainder being an isobutylene elastomer; (b) at most 50 pts. of a thermoplastic resin; (c) 5-75 pts. of a compatible tackifier for the elastomer; (d) at most 50 pts. of compatible plasticisers; (e) at most 125 pts. filles; and (f) at most 15 pts. of a curing agent for the elastomers. The composition pref. contains at least 10 pts. of (b), and 1 pt. of (f).
