Improved golf club head cover with detachable identification tag

A golf head cover (10) (Fig. 6) which closely fits the head of a wood type golf club is provided with a detachably mounted golf club identification tag (64) (Fig. 8) which has a slot (68). A looped strap (52) fixed to the closed end of the cover (10) carries connector means (54) which has arms (85, 86) which can be inserted through the slot of the tag and thus engaged therewith. The connector means (54) engages resiliently deflectable webs (70, 72) in the slot.
