PURPOSE:To enable a French-fold printing with a readable printing form, by a method wherein, in the presence of graphics, such as a graph, in either of a pair of two pages of a document in a dual page printing an optimum position control is carried out correspondingly to an aspect ratio on a document display plane to always make character arrangement coincide on a pair of pages. CONSTITUTION:If a graph is present in a graph check page in a French-fold printing, with respect to a pair of pages as the object of the French-fold printing a line gap or a character gap is changed so that the printing position of characters and graphs in the pages of a document can coincide with that on an image plane. Namely, a line gap or a character gap is changed (reduced) so that a character gap and a line feed pitch in printing have the same ratio with an aspect ratio on the image plane. If a graph is absent in a graph check page in the French-fold printing, whether the processing has reached a last page or not is judged. If a printing processing object page remains, a graph check page number in a register 32 is updated (+1), and the presence of graph in the appropriate page is checked. Here, if a graph is present in the graph check page, a line gap or a character gap is changed so that the printing position of characters and graphs in the pages of the document can coincide with that on an image plane. |
