PURPOSE:To simplify the check of a defective head that produces the wiggles by applying an energizing magnetic field to the reproduction signal received from a disk from the outside and observing the level of the wiggle as the swell of a reproduced waveform. CONSTITUTION:The signals produced from a signal recorder 6 are recorded on a disk 4 and a read/write changeover switch 5 is set at the read side for execution of a reproducing job. The signals recorded on the disk 4 are converted into electric signals by a magnetic head 1 and sent to a signal reproducing device 7. The device 7 amplifies the received delicate electric signals and shows them on a waveform display device like an oscilloscope, etc. Then the wiggle level is specified by observing a fact that the wiggle component contained the reproduction signal of the head 1 produced from an external energizing signal of a 1st high frequency having a fixed amplitude runs up the slope of the reproduction signal by an external energizing signal of a 2nd low frequency and changes the envelope of a reproduced waveform. Thus it is possible to specify the wiggle component produced from a defective head and to check the quality of a thin film magnetic head. |
