<p>PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a clutch for power transmission as well as to miniaturize it by installing a torque setting elastic member which is elastically deforced toll a clearance gas becomes nothing in turning effort beyond the setting torque, and constituting an rolling element not to be engaged with either of clockwise or counterclockwise direction in a wedge space at a neutral position, in the power steering clutch. CONSTITUTION:In the case where this clutch is used for a power steering, when turning effort to be given to a steering shaft 41 is less than the setting torque of a torsion bar, the deflection is little and it is situated almost in a neutral position of a rotational clearance, so that this clutch is no longer operat ed, and thereby rotation of the steering shaft 41 is transmittable to a pinion shaft 44 via the torsion bar. If it goes beyond the setting torque, the torsion bar is largely deflected, operated by the clutch, turning and driving it by a motor 47, and the pinion shaft 44 is rotated whereby steerage of wheels is made performable with slight handwheel operating force. In case trouble occurs in a driving system inclusive of the motor 47, handwheel operation takes place in a state of interrupting this driving system, thus the operating force is prevented from making too much.</p> |
