PURPOSE:To obtain the subject substance having excellent anticholine activity and useful as a medicine by treating a cultured product produced by culturing a microbial strain belonging to genus Penicillium and capable of producing the subject substance. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to genus Penicillium and capable of producing the subject substance PF6766 (FERM P-9847) is cultured at 14-31 deg.C for 4-7days in a proper medium e.g., by aerobic liquid submerged culture process, the obtained culture product is extracted e.g., with a water-immiscible solvent (e.g., ethyl acetate) and, as necessary, the extract is purified. The anticholine substance PF6766 produced by the above process is a colorless or white solid having the following characteristics. Elemental analysis (measured values, C 53.92%, H 6.04%, N 6.01%; specific rotation, +132.6 (c=0.06, methanol); ultraviolet absorption spectrum, Table I, infrared absorption spectrum (KBr method), Table II; <1>H-NMR spectrum (199.50MHz), Table III; solubility, soluble in water, methanol, ethyl acetate and CHCl3 and scarcely soluble in n-hexane and ether; color reaction, positive to Dragendorff's test. |
