PURPOSE:To enhance the nonlinear effect, transmitability and transparency of the title material by using a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The compd. expressed by formula I is used as the nonlinear optical material. In formula, A, B denote H, halogen, alkyl or 1-18C, etc.; (x), (y) denote 0-2; x+y denotes 2-4. The compd. expressed by formula is obtd. by bringing benzaldehyde (deriv.) and acetophenone (deriv.) into condensa tion reaction in the presence of a desired catalyst and more specifically, the compd. expressed by formula II, etc., are usable. This compd. has the high nonlinear optical effect, the high transparency of visible rays of a prescribed wavelength or above and the excellent transparency as well and is, therefore, usable in various optical applications. |
