PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity which is sufficiently high also in a red region, and having superior characteristics and durability after it is used repeatedly, by constituting a photosensitive layer of a material contg. a specified azo dye. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer contg. an azo dye expressed by formula I is formed on an electroconductive base body. In formula I, X is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon ring or heterocyclic ring; R1 is an H atom., halogen atom., cyano group, carboxyl group, alkoxycarbonyl group, carbamoyl group, or nitro group; R2 is an alkyl or aryl group; (n) is 1, 2, or 3. Due to the presence of the photosensitive layer, a sufficient sensitivity also in a red region (near 600nm), and superior characteristics and durability after repetitive use are provided to a photosensitive body. |
