PURPOSE:To block-print without reciprocating a sheet to be transferred and a transfer ribbon by so disposing the array of a plurality of heat generating resistors of a thermal head that the positions of blocks are sequentially displaced at a predetermined interval in a feeding direction of the sheet to be transferred with the resistors as one block unit. CONSTITUTION:The heat generator of a line type thermal head 20 has a heat generating resistor array, and its heat generating resistor 30 is the same as a heat generating resistor 12 in such a manner that the width l of a platen roller 7 in a feeding direction (the width in a nonline direction) has conditions of l<L and l<W/2 with respect to the width L of a conventional non-heat concentration type heat generating resistor 11 in a nonline direction. A heat generating resistor array has a plurality of the resistors 30 disposed as one control unit (block unit) by dividing them into control units A, B, C,..., which are displaced sequentially in the feeding direction of a sheet 5 to be transferred at a predetermined interval L' (such as L'=L), and stepwisely aligned. Accordingly, even if the sheet 5 and a transfer ribbon 1 are not reversely fed at each finishing of printing with the unit, a block printing can be performed. |
