PURPOSE:To improve the filtration efficiency of the title filter by forming the ceramic filter for removing the nonmetallic inclusion in molten metal from the multistage filter bodies obtained by corrugating or looping plural wires, and stepwise reducing the porosity in the passing direction of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The inclusion filter 10 for removing the nonmetallic inclusion such as oxides and the fragments of a refractory material in the molten metal to clean the molten metal is formed from the multistage shaped layers 11, 12, 13, and 14 obtained by corrugating or looping plural wires of high-melting- point ceramic material in one plane. The porosity and mesh of the respective shaped bodies 11-14 are gradually reduced in the flow direction 9 of the molten metal to be filtered (namely from the upper part toward lower part in the thickness direction of the filter). Moreover, the porosity and mesh of the shaped body 14 on the outlet side are made smaller than the smallest inclusion in the molten metal. The largest inclusion 15 is filtered off by the uppermost-stage shaped layer 11, other inclusions are completely filtered off by the shaped layers 12-14, and the molten metal is completely cleaned and discharged from the shaped layer 14. |
