<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a power supply without damaging the life of a thermal head, by continuously applying the first current pulse and the second current pulse having a width narrower than that of the first one without moving a recording medium and the thermal head and dividing a dot line in performing printing. CONSTITUTION:A printing dot 21 is printed by continuously allowing the first pulse 22 and the second pulse 32 having a width narrower than that of the first one to the same heat generating element two times in succession without moving a recording medium and a thermal head so that the heat generating waveform 23 due to the pulse 22 and the heat generating waveform 33 due to the pulse 32 are continued. Further, for example, a dot line is divided into four groups G1, G2, G3, G4 and, at first, each dot 21a of the group G1 is printed by the aforementioned method and, thereafter, the recording medium is fed, for example, by the distance (s) corresponding to 1/4 the length (l) of the dot 21a and each dot 21b of the group G2 is printed in the same way. Subsequently, the respective dots 21c, 21d of the groups G3, G4 are printed in the same way.</p> |
