PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of transparency and quality and to obtain the title element by supplying and holding a glass material so as not to bring into contact with an upper mold and a lower mold in the specified formation molds consisting of the upper and lower molds and a frame mold, and carrying out press forming after heating. CONSTITUTION:The glass material G is supplied to be hold in the enlarged section part 8 of the through-hole 6 which is so formed that the cross section of the part of the through-hole 6 in which the upper mold 1 is play-fitted is made larger than that of the part in which the lower mold 3 is play-fitted. Then the glass material G is heated to the temp. higher than the transition temp., and wedge members 13 on the upper surface side of the bottom plate 11 of an outer frame member are separated from the lower surface of the frame mold 5 to bring the frame mold 5 in contact with the upper surface side of the bottom plate 11 so that the glass material G is brought into contact with the end surface of the lower mold 3. Moreover, the wedge means 12 on the upper surface of the peripheral wall part 10 of the outer frame is displaced to lower the upper mold 1 to the specified position in the through-hole 6 of the frame mold 5 to carry out press forming. |
