PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber array whose polarizing surface can be easily adjusted and degree of integration is improved and, at the same time, in which optical fibers can be arranged at vary small intervals with high accuracy by providing a cover plate on V-grooves. CONSTITUTION:Plural parallel V-grooves 1a are provided at prescribed intervals on the surface of a base plate 1 and a notched groove 1b which intersects the V-grooves 1a at right angles is provided at a prescribed location of the end section 1c of the base plate 1. Then a cover plate 2 is put on the grooves 1a and cores 5a of optical fibers are passed through the holes 3 which are formed by the cover plate 1 and grooves 1a and have triangular cross sections when they are viewed from the side. The cores 5a are fixed to the triangular holes 3 in a state where the cores 5a are positioned by abutting the leading ends of the cores 5a to the abutting surface 4a of a stopper 4 abutted to the end face 1d of the base plate 1. Then the end section 1c is cut off from the base plate 1 at the position of the groove 1b and the leading ends of the cores 5a are protruded. Therefore, the optical fiber cores can be arranged and fixed at very small intervals with high accuracy, with their leading ends protruding by little lengths, without receiving any influences from the bend of the fibers. |
