PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of an optical switch and to manufacture easily and miniaturize the switch by arraying optical switch elements in groups and providing optical connectors in a multistage state on both input and output sides of the optical switch groups. CONSTITUTION:Optical connectors 3, to which multicore optical fibers F1-F4 are connected, are provided in a multistage state at appropriate intervals on the outsides of the input and output sides of an optical switch element group 2 and coupling sections composed of optical waveguides are provided between each connector 3 and the group 2. Moreover, the main body section of this optical switch is composed of the combination of individual optical switch elements 1. Therefore, the loss of this optical switch can be reduced and the switch can be manufactured easily. Moreover, since the optical connectors 3 are provided in a multistage state and are connected with the optical switch element group 2 by means of the optical waveguides, this optical switch can be miniaturized. |
