The reinforced composite wooden construction for nautical applications e.g. hulls, decks and bulkheads has a series of planks (1) placed side by side with transverse grooves (2) cut across them at regular intervals. Continuous reinforcement straps (3) are installed in the grooves and these are fixed by bonding or by overlaying the assembly with additional layers of planking (4). A multi-layer construction may also be constructed with overlapping planks in each layer and with spacing of the reinforcement straps. ADVANTAGE - The reinforced method of construction elliminates the need for supporting cross-member.
