The invention concerns a machine for breaking up the soil and is provided with two different types of tools. The first type consists of a rotor (1) whilst the second type consists of ploughshares (2) which loosen the soil to a greater depth than that achieved by the rotor (1). The rotor (1) is mounted in front of the ploughshares (2) from the point of view of the direction of travel of teh machine, and is rigidly attached to a sub frame (3) which is positionally adjustable relative to the main frame (4) of teh machine.
