<p>A radio paging system includes a paging terminal (110) which transmits a batch of pager addresses (310 Fig. 4A) followed in time by a batch of messages (330 Fig. 4A). The paging terminal (110) transmits the addresses within the addresses batch (310) in a predetermined order. The paging terminal (110) transmits the messages associated with these addresses in a predetermined order in which the addresses of the address batch were transmitted. The radio pagers (130) in the system have the capability of determining the relative position of an addressed pager's address within the address batch. Each addressed radio pager (130) determines the particular message of the message batch intended for such addressed pager based on the known relationship between the order of the particular message within the message batch and the relative position of the address of each pager (130) within the address batch. The radio pager (130) thus produces a selected message which is displayed for observation by the pager user.</p> |
